Requirement
FMC Technologies is a leading global provider of technology solutions for the oil and gas industry. It designs, manufactures and services sub-sea and surface production and processing equipment. After outgrowing its existing facility, FMC contracted with Eastcourt to develop a new state-of-the-art service base and corporate offices. FMC’s requirements were very specific and included;
- a heavy duty workshop with large internal clearance incorporating a 63 tonne crane with 15m lift;
- a 7m deep in floor test pit;
- various clean-rooms and destructive test rooms;
- 800sqm of fully fitted out office; and
- 6,000sqm of concrete hardstand.
Solution
Through close collaboration with Landcorp, Eastcourt secured an ideal site within the Sub-sea precinct in the Australian Marine Complex at Henderson.
FMC had very specific and exacting standards to which certain aspects of the new base should be constructed. Having already developed a number of similar facilities around the world, FMC invited Eastcourt’s development team to visit their Singapore base so as to better understand the complexities of some of the design criteria. A strong and mutually respectful relationship soon developed and has played a vital part in the finished facility meeting FMC’s needs.
The final design was agreed and construction commenced in early 2010. The Premises were completed in November, with FMC in and operating prior to Christmas 2010.
